Tito Linhsamout

My Name is Tito Linhsamout and I am from San Jose, CA.  I set out to pursue my goals and all life endeavors to be able to provide and give back to my family and friends as much as possible while working towards self actualization.”

I did not necessarily have a mentor per say with my pursuits since they have been so taboo growing up, but I have been fortunate to have amazing parents and siblings.

My inspiration for starting my guitar and musical journey is my Uncle who is blind.  He taught himself how to play guitar at an extremely high level.  It amazes me how talented and proficient he is at guitar.

I have learned to focus on the things I can control and do everything with passion.  The advice that I would give to my younger self is to fall in love with the process and not be hyper focused on the desired end result.

Things will fall in place if you are passionate and dedicated to the daily grind and tracking progress.

I hope that in the near future, I am still able to enjoy sharing my love for music by still releasing albums and touring with my band “The Trims” and also be able to provide help or mentorship to other young Asians who wish to pursue a life in music.

The most difficult decision in pursuing my goals is an ongoing daily decision.  That is deciding how much time and effort I can dedicate towards my passions without hurting my ability to be a good son, spouse, brother, and friend to those I love.

I do not believe I am unique or stand out from others, but what I am proud of is the respect and humility my parents and siblings instilled in me. “

They taught me that life is not about what happens to you, but how you respond to the things that happen.  The thing that I have the most control of is my attitude and actions towards others.”

If I had a whole day to myself, it would not be the ideal day for me.  Although I have many hobbies and passions, it is the people I share those things with that make me happy.”

So if I had a day where I could spend time with my family, friends, and animals I would be a happy man.

What I embrace most about being Lao is being proud of where my parents came from.  They are the most amazing souls that I know and I am proud to be their child and a product of the Lao culture.

What I love most about the Lao culture is the humility and respect we show others and all living creatures. The best way I embrace the Lao culture with my friends is through the cuisine and hospitality.”
